Rectifier V-OPED-M "KEDR"
Purpose
Rectifiers V-OPED-M is intended for cathodic protection of underground metal constructions against electrochemical corrosion.
Features
Rectifier’s simplified scheme includes electronic system for protection against external and internal overloads and short circuits.
Simplified scheme ensures high reliability, low cost, reduced weight and dimensions, stable performance of rectifiers under conditions of increased man-made statics.
Rectifier ensures step-by-step regulation of output voltage.
Control unit is interchangeable in all the four modifications.
Rectifier’s scheme provides draining of stray currents from protected construction (pipe) onto anodic earth rod in case there is no power line voltage.
Principle of operation
Principle of operation is based on pre-reducing of power line voltage by means of power transformer and rectifying of power line voltage by means of bridge diode rectifier.
Output voltage is regulated by means of commutation of secondary winding taps of the transformer led out to terminal panel. Commutation is done by means of four bonding strips.
Operating conditions
Rectifier ensures reliable and stable operation under the following climatic conditions:
- the upper value of ambient temperature + 45 °C;
- the lower value of ambient temperature - 45 °C;
- the upper value of relative humidity 98% at 25 °C.

Rectifier
The rectifier ensures step-by-step regulation of output voltage by means of commutation of secondary winding taps of the power transformer according to Annex A and Annex B. Output voltages of the rectifier at nominal load currents can differ from those in the table on not more than +3%.
The rectifier is designed for operation under load resistance from 0.1 Rnom and up to 10 Rnom, where Rnom=Uoutput nom / Ioutput nom.
At series connection of power transformer windings the rectifier operates at output voltage Unom and 2 Unom and load current up to 0.5 Inom.
The rectifier has the protection against external and internal closings and voltage overloads.
The rectifier is reliably put into operation after short- and long-term disappearances of the power line voltage with automatic turn-on in latest set operation mode.
The rectifier ensures operation at power line voltage becoming as low as 160 V.
The rectifier has protection against atmospheric overloads of the power line and load at surge current up to 3kA at duration 8/20 mcs.
The rectifier corresponds to the standard 01 GOST 12.2.007.0-75 in the way of man protection against current injury.
The rectifier corresponds to fire safety requirements (GOST 12.1.004-91).
The level of radio interference produced on the clamps of connection with the power line and load does not exceed that of the standard (GOST Ð 51318.14.1-99).
The level of acoustic pressure produced by the rectifier does not exceed 60 dBA.
Specified service life – 20 years.
Guaranteed service life – 30 months.
The rectifier corresponds to the technical specifications IZHSK.435211.004TU, GOST 26830-86, GOST 24830-86, GOST 9.602-89, GOST 24682-81, GOST R 51164-98 and the documentation package according to IZHSK.435211.004. The rectifier also corresponds to the "General technical requirements to cathodic protection transformers", worked out by VNIIGaz and approved by RAO "Gazprom".
The rectifier produced for export additionally meets the requirements RD 1601.007-88.
Construction
This embodiment of the rectifier ensures its operation as a self-sufficient product.
The rectifier is designed to be mounted outdoors (climatic Y modification of distribution category 1).
The rectifier is made according to the block principle. The blocks are allocated in the case of carcassless type. There is a door with two locks at the front panel of the case. Behind this door there is also an inner door.
Level of protection of the rectifier is IP34 according to GOST 14254-96.
The cooling of the rectifier is natural by air.
There are vent holes in the lower part and a special cover for hot air outlet in the upper part of the case.
In the power part of the case there is block of diodes, on which rectifier diodes, shunt, varistors, electro technical outputs XT6 (+) and XT7 (-) for connection of the rectifier load are mounted.
In the middle part of the case there is an input panel, on which varistors, antiinterference condensers, power transformer of control unit, current transformer, and electro technical outputs XT1 and XT2 for connection of the rectifier to the power line are mounted.
In the upper part of the rectifier on studs welded to bridges on the back wall of the case there is power transformer with taps.
On the inner door there are control unit, multifunctional device, rectifier operating time counter, amplifier, automatic breaker and indication elements.
The control unit has the level of protection IP56. It is provided by the application of the rubber seal on the housing cover.
In the lower outer part of the case there are two bolts for connection of the rectifier case to the grounding circuit.
Four holes for lifting and transportation are provided in the upper part of the rectifier case.
The rectifier construction enables its installation on a flat ground with fixing by means of four bolts as well as on a vertical wall or concrete pole with use of an additional frame. The cables supply to the rectifier is carried out from the bottom through pipes with special stoppers.
The branch pipe compression shall be done with polyurethane foam.
Construction of terminal clamps provides connection of terminated wires and cables as well as cables without termination.
